Telling this family’s story on a hike

As a Portland Family Photographer, when a family asks me to tell their narrative as it unfolds, I feel all the creative feels, and I love finding art in the every day. It isn’t just about some pretty scenery, It’s about your story, your moments, and your experiences. It isn’t just that day, or hour that makes your story. It’s all the moments and seasons that came before and I try to tell it with artful stills. This family asked to do a hike for their Storytelling Session and it was so fun and required LOTS of energy! I had to run ahead of the busy boys a lot, but it made for some great shots on the boardwalk at Finley Wildlife Refuge. Mom carried baby girl around as the boys explored and the day couldn’t have been better. It was so them and I loved being there for it.

This is why I travel for these sessions now. I want to meet and know amazing people that also see the world and our lives as a piece of art unfolding, and I get just a few hours in to people’s lives to tell it. It’s an honor I don’t lightly accept.
